PEEK Cable Ties: Stop Folding Them! Here’s the Correct Test Method
When many engineers receive PEEK cable ties, they often fold them directly to evaluate toughness. This test method seems intuitive, but it may not be a fair evaluation for PEEK cable ties.
PEEK material itself has high rigidity. Its design focus is structural stability at high temperatures, chemical corrosion resistance and anti-creep performance, rather than being judged like ordinary flexible materials through folding. Using a folding test may lead to incorrect material assessment.
Correct Verification Method: Rod Winding Test
A more practical verification method closer to actual use is the rod winding test.
During the test, wrap the PEEK cable tie around a rod and fasten it properly. Observe the performance of the strap and lock under stress, focusing on two aspects:
- Bending resistance Check whether cracks, whitening, damage or abnormal deformation appear on the strap after bending stress.
- Tensile performance Check whether the strap, lock and tooth engagement remain stable during tightening, and whether slipping, deformation or failure occurs.
This test is closer to the actual stress state of wire harness fixing, pipe bundling and structural part fastening, and provides more useful reference than simple folding.
Factory Verification: Combustion Test & Annular Tensile Sampling
To help customers select materials more reliably, SVM conducts two verification processes on each batch of PEEK cable ties before delivery:
- Combustion test Used to confirm whether the combustion behavior of the material meets the requirements of the corresponding specification, and to help evaluate flame retardant performance and material consistency.
- Annular tensile sampling inspection Simulates the stress state of the cable tie after being fastened in a loop, samples the tensile performance, and evaluates the comprehensive stability of the lock, tooth engagement and strap.
It should be noted that specific flame retardant grade, temperature resistance range, tensile data and applicable conditions are subject to the corresponding specification and actual test results.
Product Features: High Temperature Resistance, Chemical Corrosion Resistance, Anti-Creep

Application Scope
- High temperature equipment wire harness fixing:Used for wire harness management around high temperature furnaces, ovens, heating equipment and similar devices;
- Semiconductor manufacturing:Used for component fixing in semiconductor equipment, manufacturing apparatus and clean processes;
- Special industrial wire harness fixing:Used in chemical, pharmaceutical, food machinery, aerospace-related and other special industrial applications.
Size Matrix: Six Core Sizes for Common Applications
SVM PEEK cable ties are available in a relatively complete size matrix, covering the following six core sizes:
- 2.5×100
- 3.5×145
- 4.8×185
- 4.8×250
- 4.8×300
- 4.8×420
These sizes can cover some common wire harness fixing and bundling requirements. Special width, length, color and structural requirements can be discussed according to operating conditions.
FAQ
Q:Can PEEK cable ties be tested by direct folding? A:Direct folding is not recommended. PEEK material has high rigidity, so folding may cause misjudgment. The rod winding test is more practical for observing bending resistance and tensile performance.
Q:What tests are conducted for each batch? A:Before delivery, SVM conducts combustion verification and annular tensile sampling inspection on each batch of PEEK cable ties. Specific test items, standards and data are subject to the corresponding batch and specification.
Q:How high is the temperature resistance? Can it be used in strong corrosive environments? A:Temperature resistance and corrosion performance depend on the material grade, modified formulation, operating temperature, medium type, contact time and stress state. Customers should provide operating parameters for technical team evaluation.
Q:Is sampling available? A:Yes. If you have wire harness fixing requirements in extreme conditions such as high temperature or strong corrosion, you can contact SVM to arrange sampling for material comparison and condition verification.
SVM PEEK cable ties are supported by the rod winding test, combustion verification, annular tensile sampling inspection and a complete size matrix, helping meet wire harness fixing requirements in high temperature equipment, semiconductor manufacturing and special industrial conditions.
